Electrician Website Design: What You Need to Win More Jobs

Most electrician websites fall into one of two camps: built years ago and never touched since, or a rushed DIY job that looks like every other template on the internet. Neither one is working hard enough for your business.

A well-designed electrician website should be doing one thing: turning visitors into booked jobs. Here's exactly what that takes.

1. Show up on Google first

None of the other stuff matters if customers can't find you. Your electrician website needs to be built with local SEO in mind from the ground up — not bolted on as an afterthought.

That means:

  • Your title tag includes your trade and location (e.g. "Electrician Sydney — Northern Beaches")
  • Your homepage H1 mentions what you do and where you do it
  • Your Google Business Profile is linked and optimised
  • Your site loads fast — under 3 seconds, ideally under 2
  • Your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) is consistent everywhere online

If your website doesn't rank on page one for "[electrician] + [your suburb]", you're invisible to the people most likely to hire you.

2. Make it dead easy to contact you

When someone needs an electrician, they want to contact you right now — not hunt around your website. Your phone number should be in the top-right corner of every page, clickable on mobile, and visible without scrolling.

A contact form is essential too, for people who'd rather send a message than call. Keep it simple: name, phone, what they need, when. Nobody wants to fill in fifteen fields to get a quote.

3. List your services clearly

One of the biggest mistakes on electrician websites is vague service descriptions. "We do all electrical work" is not helpful. List your specific services: switchboard upgrades, EV charger installation, safety inspections, fault finding, new builds, renovations.

This matters for two reasons. First, it helps customers understand you're the right person for their job. Second, it gives Google more to index — which means you have a better chance of showing up when someone searches for a specific service in your area.

4. Establish your service area

Be explicit about where you work. "Serving the Northern Beaches, Lower North Shore, and surrounds" — that kind of thing. Include suburb names in your copy where it makes sense.

This is one of the most effective local SEO tactics and it's completely free to implement. It tells Google exactly where to show your website, and it tells potential customers that you're not going to knock back a job in their area.

5. Show photos of real work

Stock photos of lightbulbs and generic electricians are a waste of space. Photos of your actual work — switchboard installs, neat conduit runs, before-and-afters — do three things at once:

  • They prove you're real and active
  • They demonstrate the quality of your workmanship
  • They give Google Images another way to find you

You don't need professional photography. A decent photo taken on your phone, properly cropped, is far better than a stock image.

6. Feature your reviews prominently

Google reviews are the single biggest trust signal for local services. If you've got them, show them. Pull your best 3–4 reviews onto your homepage and link to your Google Business Profile for the full list.

If you don't have many reviews yet, your website should be actively prompting customers to leave one — either with a direct link or a follow-up email after each job.

7. Be mobile-first

Over 70% of local searches happen on mobile. When someone searches "electrician near me" at 7pm from their couch, they're on their phone. Your website needs to load fast, look clean, and have a tap-to-call button front and centre on mobile.

If your website is hard to use on a phone, you're losing jobs to the electrician whose site isn't.
